Hiking in North Jutland
The nature in North Jutland is fantastic, and can be experienced one of the many hiking routes and viewpoints which can be found in the landscape of North Jutland. Do you need a break from the city and want to challenge yourself? Then find the trail that suits you best!


Hærvejen winds its way from North to South Jutland, so you can easily join the route anywhere. If you start in Frederikshavn, for example, you can spread the first four stages of the route over a few days. The route is long and there is plenty to experience along the way.

The North Sea Trail is part of the North Sea Trail and NAVE Nortail project, which aims to establish walking routes on old historic paths along the entire North Sea Trail.

When experiencing Grenen, we can recommend doing so on foot. The Grenen Trail consists of a total of 30 km of hiking trails, offering both short and slightly longer routes, so both young and old can participate.


Jyske Ås offers magnificent scenery and unique nature, and you can experience it all up close when you walk this unique hiking trail.

Formerly home to entertainers and circus artists: Sømosen offers a unique story, beautiful nature and is definitely worth a visit.

Hals Bog is rich in both history, wild life, and beautiful surroundings. Thus, the bog is a great option for a little stroll with the dog as well as a longer hike with a friend.
Recommendation for a hiking holiday in Northern Jutland

This hike of about 41 km moves from the coastal town of Frederikshavn to the top of Denmark, Skagen. The route starts and ends along the coast, where you walk along the beach with a beautiful view out over the sea. Midway, the route moves inland, through forests and open landscapes. This route is particularly good if you want to combine it with cultural experiences before and after the hike in Frederikshavn and Skagen.

On this beautiful hike of approximately 56 km along the North Sea Trail, you'll journey from Skagen down towards charming Sæby. During the hike, you'll experience walking along the beach, through forests, and in open landscapes. Along the route, it's possible to find accommodations in the towns where the route makes stops.

A hiking trip for those who prefer a fixed base. From Hals, situated by the sea and fjord, there are opportunities for hikes towards the north, west, and south. Here, you'll experience hikes along the beautiful coast, unique marshlands, and a short ferry ride across the Limfjord.
