Things to do in Sæby

Sæby Vandmølle on Sæby Å. The old half-timbered water-mill dates from 1710. The original mill is much older & belonged to Sæbygård Castle for many years. Today the house has been transformed into vacation homes.

Created by Norwegian artist, Marit Benthe Norheim in 2001- a doublesided figurehead in white concrete.

The beautiful Church of St. Mary is the last part of a huge, 4-winged Carmelite Monastery from 1470.

Jernkilden (The iron source) in Sæby played such a big role for a period that Sæby at that time was one of the leading spa towns. One thought that ferrous water was good against many different ailments.

Sæby's citizens are proud of the town's lovely old houses, which can be seen in Minibyen Sæby.

Follow the Sæby River on a 5 km walking route where 10 bridges connect nature, art and 1,000 years of town history. Experience beech forest, old town streets, harbour and beach close to the water.

Today the old timber-framed building is a museum.

The Renaissance castle Sæbygård lies surrounded by a wide moat, just west of Sæby.
