Walking route: Clover paths Asaa, harbor route Asaa - 10 km
The black route, which follows the North Sea Trail south to Gerå, gives you a great opportunity to stretch your legs and get some fresh air in your face. The route starts at the market square in Asaa.
On the 10 km you'll pass Asaa harbor and beach, the racecourse, the harbor museum, the tar pits and the iron foundry. The harbor was built in 1877 as a shipping port for wood and coal to Aalborg and in 1906 a fishing port was added. Fishing stopped in the 1960s, but the history can still be experienced with well-preserved buildings and bathhouses that contribute to an authentic harbor environment. The racecourse is 700 meters long and has been in use since 1927, and is also used as the town's fairground.
The harbor museum is located by the old fishermen's houses and features various fishing gear, engines, navigation equipment and more. The tar pots were used to tar the fishermen's nets from the early 1900s until 1960. The iron foundry was purchased in 2020 and is undergoing a transformation from industrial building to cultural meeting place.
