The Coast of Northern Vendsyssel – Angling in North Jutland

The coast of northern Vendsyssel offers excellent opportunities for angling in North Jutland. From Lyngså to Skagen, you can fish from wide beaches, groynes and harbour piers. The seabed conditions vary between sand, stones, seaweed and deeper channels, creating diverse conditions and making it possible to adapt your fishing to the season, weather and experience level.

Guided Angling Tours along the North Jutland Coast

A guided angling tour can be tailored to your interests, whether you prefer bottom fishing, lures, spinners or fly fishing. The tour can also be focused on specific fishing spots or fish species, and it is possible to arrange a trip to a put-and-take lake. As a rule, you bring your own fishing equipment, any waders, bait and refreshments for the trip.

Prices and practical details are agreed upon when booking. Contact Lene by phone at +45 98 46 14 49 or by email at lene@hedebocamping.dk to learn more about the options.

Angling at Frederikshavn Harbour

Frederikshavn Harbour is a well-known spot among anglers, especially because of the long breakwater, which allows fishing from the outer side. The breakwater extends toward the harbour entrance and exit, where the water becomes deeper and conditions allow both coastal fishing and fishing for species that stay close to harbour structures.

Along the stone breakwater and in the outer harbour areas, you can fish for species such as flatfish, weever fish, mackerel, sea trout, garfish, cod and saithe. At the head of the breakwater, there are particularly good opportunities close to deep water, while the shallower areas can be attractive for flatfish and bottom-feeding species.

Fish Species and Seasons

Fishing varies with the seasons. Spring and summer can offer chances to catch garfish, sea trout and flatfish, while herring and mackerel typically follow their own migration periods. Cod and saithe can be caught in deeper water, and flatfish are often found over sandy bottoms and mixed seabed conditions. Fishing methods vary by species, but lures, rigs, flies, fish strips, lugworms and ragworms are among the most commonly used baits.

Rules and Practical Preparation

Before heading out fishing, you should always check access conditions, local regulations and licensing requirements. It is also a good idea to be aware of closed seasons, minimum size limits and safety on breakwaters, where wind, currents and slippery stones can affect conditions. With proper preparation, your fishing trip along the coast and at the harbour will be safer and more flexible.
