Visit the Bangsbo Coastal Museum in Frederikshavn, where the impressive Ellingåskib ship is on display. Although the ship dates back to 1163, it was built according to the same principles as Viking Age merchant ships, which testifies to the longevity of this type of Nordic ship.
The Ellingåskibet is a well-preserved and unique example of Nordic clinker-built boats – a boatbuilding tradition that has just been added to UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage.
