The Nordic approach to knowledge is characterised by openness, trust and confidentiality, and it is pronounced in North Jutland, where professional knowledge is often shared between people to maximise the benefit. Collaboration in groups and with close ties to the business community in particular has become a trademark of AAU, and it has proven to be an effective way to create good and realistic connections between theoretical and practical learning.

North Jutland is also home to a large concentration of knowledge-intensive companies, many of which are based on the knowledge and resources generated at educational institutions, or at least benefit from the people who have completed their education in North Jutland. Many of the companies are also very interested in and concerned that the knowledge they have really comes into play - both in collaboration with other companies and research environments. That's why they organise meetings and conferences themselves to attract people to North Jutland, or they contribute to the content.
