Green modes of transport
Aalborg and North Jutland are also at the forefront when it comes to sustainable modes of transport. Aalborg Airport is at the forefront of the green transition and is accredited as a CO2-reducing airport through the international Airport Carbon Accreditation programme. In addition, you can be transported by electric bus, and as a meeting or conference participant, you can walk or cycle around safely in the vast majority of cases, as there is a short distance to everything.
Certified facilities
In Aalborg we have a wide selection of green hotels and restaurants. The vast majority of hotel rooms are certified according to international hotel standards such as Green Key or the Nordic Swan Ecolabel, where hotels must meet specific environmental requirements that also ensure that you as a guest in Aalborg can stay in the city in a sustainable way. In addition, many of Aalborg's restaurants focus on ecology, local produce and minimising food waste.
AKKC sets the bar high
Aalborg is home to Aalborg Kongres & Kultur Center, which is the first and only congress centre in Denmark to be certified according to the international ISO standard 20121 for sustainable events. At AKKC, they want to create value for people and the environment by working with sustainability based on three focus areas: AKKC's behaviour, AKKC's operations and AKKC's physical environment. With up to 500,000 annual visitors and 1,000 annual events, the congress centre is one of the largest and most flexible in Scandinavia.
