Skalskoven in Nibe
Skalskoven is located behind Nibe's famous "Hollywood letters," which can clearly be seen from the bypass road between Aalborg and Løgstør when driving past Nibe, the old market town.
Many likely associate the forest on the outskirts of Nibe with the Nibe Festival, but Skalskoven, with its many beech trees, has much more to offer. In the forest, you can follow gravel and asphalt roads, but you can also venture off on smaller paths, where you might be lucky enough to encounter a squirrel. Otherwise, you'll mostly meet others out enjoying nature, whether on a walk with or without a dog, or runners. Skalskoven offers a fine, hilly, marked 5-kilometer running route. Several mountain bikers have also found their way to the forest.
Popular Nature Playground
The forest also features a popular nature playground, set in a hilly landscape between the trees. The playground includes swings, a balance beam, a slide, and not least, a zip line, which is a hit among the youngest visitors. The playground is just a stone's throw from Skal Pavillonen, where in the old days there was dancing with live music, but today it is a restaurant reserved for private parties. Next to the restaurant, you'll find Hestepladsen - a large open grassy area where many enjoy their packed meals on days when the sun is out.
The Most Beautiful View from the Bench
If you take a walk along the trail at the edge of the forest and follow it all the way around, continuing as it goes uphill, you'll eventually be rewarded with the most beautiful view over Limfjorden. There is a bench at the edge of the forest, just above the Nibe letters, and from here, there is a fantastic panoramic view of Limfjorden and the nearby fields with horses. On a warm summer evening, when the sun sets over the fjord – it doesn't get more beautiful than that.
