Municipalities Working Towards Accessibility for All

Aalborg

Aalborg Municipality is committed to ensuring physical accessibility for everyone, including people with disabilities. The goal is to make roads, publicly accessible buildings, and recreational areas equally accessible, including parking. New buildings and urban transformations must be designed with accessibility in mind, and local plans and construction projects require accessibility standards. Access and approach areas should be adapted, and self-service facilities must be user-friendly for people with disabilities.

In terms of public transport, all service buses are to be adapted for the elderly and people with disabilities. Bus stops feature extra-large fonts and sound functions, and Aalborg Municipality is working to improve information on buses and involve people with disabilities in planning.
