Halloween at Aalborg Zoo – spooky autumn fun for families
Experience Aalborg Zoo in its autumn setting, with pumpkins, atmospheric decorations, mysterious stories and activities for the whole family from 3 to 31 October.

As autumn settles over Aalborg Zoo, the animals are surrounded by pumpkins, flowers, scarecrows and imaginative details. Halloween brings together play, learning and just the right amount of spookiness, giving children and adults the chance to explore the zoo in a very special autumn atmosphere.
Halloween experiences among animals and decorations
Right by the entrance, you are welcomed by a large artwork created by Aalborg Zoo’s volunteers around the iconic Bjørnemand. Sunflowers and autumn colours are combined with objects found in the sea and in nature during clean-up events organised by Os Om Havet. The installation highlights waste, responsibility and the importance of taking better care of nature.
The experience continues through the bird aviary, where spiders, cobwebs and dim lighting create a spooky Halloween atmosphere. At Lemurtorvet, younger visitors can try the dinosaur cars and the zoo carousel before continuing towards the woodland area by the European lynx.
De Uddødes Kirkegård and Den Mystiske Dyrehandler
At De Uddødes Kirkegård, you can meet Dr. Knogle and Pip, who share stories about extinct and endangered animal species using real bones on loan from Naturhistorisk Museum. The experience combines a spooky atmosphere with knowledge about biodiversity and why protecting animals and their habitats matters.
In the old café building between the baboons and kangaroos, Den Mystiske Dyrehandler awaits among stuffed animals, skeletons and other curious objects. One of Aalborg Zoo’s zookeepers tells stories about the illegal trade in endangered animals and offers insight into a serious real-world issue.
Naturmission and Halloween after dark
Families can also take part in Naturmissionen around the zoo and solve tasks along the way. The mission ends at Den Mystiske Dyrehandler, where a prize awaits those who complete the route.
On selected days, the Halloween experience continues after dark, when lights, pumpkins and decorations give the zoo an even more mysterious appearance. On Halloween night itself, children in costume can also go Trick-or-Treating and collect sweets in their own pumpkin buckets. Halloween at Aalborg Zoo can be experienced from 3 to 31 October inclusive.
