The Golden Goose in Nibe
Copenhagen has The Little Mermaid – but in Nibe, there is the Golden Goose, created by the local artist Thorvald Odgaard, who has beautified Nibe with several works of art over the years.
The Golden Goose was gifted to the town of Nibe by the citizens and the Nibe Trade Association on the occasion of the association's 100th anniversary in 1998. The Golden Goose is a protector, and it can "bring joy" when Nibe experiences great happiness or great sorrow.
The sculpture is located by "Tyvedalen", Nibe's old watercourse running through the town, where geese and ducks used to waddle to find food. Along Tyvedalstien and centrally around Nibe town center, you can find the old cobblestones from Nibe Mill. On each of these stones, there is a small figure, also created by Thorvald Odgaard; each figure tells a little story.
The town's landmark Fjordkonen, located right by the Limfjord, is also one of Thorvald Odgaard's works.
