Christmasmarket at Knivholt

Experience Christmas at Knivholt, a charming market in the historic barns of Knivholt Manor in Frederikshavn. Discover stalls with crafts and treats, children’s activities and the scent of mulled wine and æbleskiver.

Christmas at Knivholt unfolds in the historic setting of Knivholt Manor, where fir, warm lights and handcrafted details slow the pace. You wander through atmospheric barns where local artisans demonstrate their skills, and each stall is thoughtfully curated to inspire your home and this year’s gifts.

Along the way you can experience craft up close: the blacksmith at the glowing forge, leatherwork, tailoring, glass art and beadwork, willow weaving and raku firing that awaken all the senses. The model trains circle the small railway, and in the Horse Stable you’ll find whimsical Christmas gnomes and classic handicrafts that bring childhood Christmases to life.

Crafts and Christmas stalls

Stalls offer everything from Christmas trees, decorations and ornaments to one-of-a-kind pieces in wood, glass and textiles. Explore foods and delicacies, local specialties and small-batch schnapps—all made with seasonal ingredients and traditions in mind.

Children’s joy and traditions

Families quickly find the right pace: little ones greet Santa, go on a treasure hunt with their eyes through the many lovingly detailed stalls, or follow the train’s journey around the model railway. Older children can watch the crafts up close—and perhaps try simple techniques—while adults get time to browse, talk and shop.

Food, drinks and breaks

When hunger strikes, small café areas are dotted in and around the barns. The menu sticks to tradition with soup, sausages, pancakes and freshly made æbleskiver (Danish pancake puffs), and in your cup you can choose mulled wine (gløgg), cocoa, coffee or a local beer. Find a sheltered spot and enjoy the pause before you slip back into the market’s rhythm.
