Film: Jørgen Leth & Alex Da Corte – The Perfect Monster

What happens when a contemporary artist reinterprets an iconic artistic vision? This evening, we explore the connection between Alex Da Corte and Jørgen Leth through film, art and conversation.

The current exhibition Alex Da Corte – Mr. Dream is rich in references to cartoons, pop culture and performative identity – but also contains clear and more subtle allusions to Jørgen Leth's cinematic universe. On this evening, we will delve into the inspiration and artistic means that connect the two artists across generations, media and forms of expression.

The evening will feature an exclusive screening of Alex Da Corte's video work Slow Graffiti (2017), a colourful and playful piece strongly inspired by Jørgen Leth's classic Det Perfekte Menneske (1967), in which Leth himself appears.

In addition, two short documentaries from Louisiana Channel will be shown: Jørgen Leth & Alex Da Corte: The Perfect Monster and Jørgen Leth: Warhol Eating a Hamburger, which further illustrate the connection between the artists.

An art educator from Kunsten will host the evening and invite reflection and discussion about art, humour and the (im)perfect image.
