Not many people know that Frederikshavns location was one of the reasons that Germany occupied Denmark during the second World War. The Germans had to have access to the waters around Norway.

The Germans set up operations in Frederikshavn with 4000 soldiers, 350 bunkers, aerodrome and hangars. In Frederikshavn there are still two hangars, which are the only ones of their kind preserved in Denmark. It is therefore a unique piece of history that is under restoration when one hangar is returned to its original state.

Tourists and locals will be able to come by and follow the restoration.
